I graduated from the University of Alabama in Birmingham in 1997 with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.  In 2001, I earned a master's degree from UAB in Collaborative Education.  In May of 2014, I completed an IMSLEC accredited course in the Shelton Academic Reading Approach, and I became registered as a certified academic language therapist in July of 2014.

I began teaching at Odenville Elementary School in 1997, and I have been teaching at Odenville Intermediate School since it was founded in 2007.  I have been teaching in the area of special education for eighteen years.  The 2017-2018 school year will be my twenty-first year to teach in Odenville.

I have been married to my husband, Dennis, for 23 years.  We have two children, Josh and Jordan.  Both are currently attending college.  We also have two dogs and a hedgehog: Teddy, Princess, and Spike.  When I am not at school, I enjoy fishing, hiking, and reading.  I love reading, and I want my students to find the joy of becoming lost in a great story!
